We are broken
Children forced to mature from a young age do nothing against rage.
We are broken
The rage is red, leads to the smell of fear, leads to pain
We are broken
We must look after the young ones while the adults are away.
We are broken
We, the older children, forced to grow up faster than we deserve to protect the younger ones
We are broken
Hard working people come home to drink away their sorrows and aches of the day.
We are broken
What about us? We are your children who need you when you’re here
We are broken
Homework, chores, baths better be done, and food must be ready before they get home.
We are broken
If tasks are not completed in time a scolding occurs or punishment if this has happened enough
We are broken
Food must be ready, should have played earlier now it’s too late to roam.
We are broken
You say we spend all day doing as we please and now it’s your turn, but we work too not that you notice
We are broken
It will be another long day tomorrow so try to get some sleep until the rise of the sun.
We are broken
The only time to truly rest yet anxiety keeps us awake these days
We are broken
No time to visit, no time for fun, just time to get everything done.
We are broken
In the future all we will know is this so why must we face it now when we are told we shouldn’t need to?
We are broken
No use crying about it; you need to be tough.
We are broken
Older generations calling us weak for having feelings or not having hearts like stone
We are broken
‘Kids these days are so sensitive,’ nothing is ever enough.
We are broken
We are children, growing and learning, so why do you expect us to act like adults so soon?
We are broken
The hurt of the child, such pain is ignored.
We are broken
You ridicule us and put us down, complain and hurt us with your words yet wonder why we hate you
We are broken
Adults just laying back and drinking as the bottle is poured.
We are broken
Drink your pain away just to turn that pain on us later in the day
We are broken
Children try to stay out of trouble and obey as they are told.
We are broken
Fear keeps us from acting out, yet we do act out because we’ve learned it from you
We are broken
But there is never an assurance of how things will unfold.
We are broken
Why do you punish us for learning to act as you do? You never recognize your hypocrite ways
We are broken
Trouble leads to punishment which the children try to elude.
We are broken
At times we are punished without understand what it was we did wrong, and you never clarify
We are broken
Some are forced to go without food.
We are broken
Starve us in reprimand and ask why we sneak food later; do you really have no idea?
We are broken
This was my childhood before the issues were cleared away.
We are broken
I know I’m not the only one, so my story is here to stay.
We are broken
All children want is love and the ability to be free.
We are broken
We are all a broken family tree.
We are broken.
