Who would I be?
I wouldn’t change who I am
No, I would not
I like who I am and proud to be me
There are those who inspire me
There are characters I strive to be like
I want to be like Luffy
Be simplistic and know what I want
I don’t have to be particularly good at what I want
I just have to want it and I slowly will accomplish it
I want to be Miles Morales
He is cool and his story is about self-acceptance
I connect with his struggles
I would love to meet Barbara Streisand
Not be her but meet her
Seeing her in The Way We Were reminds me of reality
What we want is not always what we are meant to have
We can fight as hard as we can but that will not change
Yet we fight for what we love.
If I was an animal, I’d be a cat
Free to roam and be myself
Or I would be a bird
Not one that is preyed upon, just free to fly
Or I would be a crow or coyote
Free to wander and live as I please
If I was an animal I would pick one where I could be free.
If I was a plant, I would want to be a morning glory
With the adaptability of their vines and their beauty
Or a bonsai tree
With their patience and peace
Or a large oak tree
With their sturdiness and endurance.
If I was someone else, I would still be true to myself
Just smile and the sun will continue to shine
Even when the rain comes, smile and the sun will shine again soon
When things aren’t black and white
A major sacrifice but clueless at the time
I will be fine eventually
Growing pains continue
Facing challenges far and near
It will continue on and on
I look at who I want to be and who I will be
I want and will be me.
