She was dressed in a grey T-shirt and plaid pajama pants. She walked out of the back door and approached the wooden fence surrounding the backyard. She effortlessly climbed the fence and balanced herself where a corner was formed in the fence, near the lower end of the roof to the garage. She sat there for a bit, perched on top of the fence, looking up at the stars and allowing her mind to wander.
After some time, she turned and scooted a few inches closer to the garage roof and reached out. Once she had her hands placed on the roof far enough from the edge that there was no give when she pushed down, she pushed herself up and climbed onto the roof from the fence. Once on the roof, she climbed higher up until she felt she was safe from any chance of slipping and falling.
She settled down, curling her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around her legs as she looked up at the stars adorning the sky and the crescent shaped moon. She breathed deeply as the wind lightly rustled the leaves of the nearby trees. She let her mind drift.
Before her mind formed a man sitting beside her. He had a Mediterranean complexion, lightly curling dark hair and beard. He was dressed in an old-fashioned white tunic with a belt made of rope, brown sandals, and a red sash draped over his clothing diagonally. He smiled at her, and the world fell away.
They were in a red room. There was a red lounge chair under the two of them. The soft carpet below their feet was red, the drapes dangling around the room were red, and the surrounding sitting room furniture were all red. She was dressed the same as before, but her clothes were now red. His clothes remained the same.
She spoke with him, telling him about what was going through her mind and what she had done recently. She apologized for things she knew she should not have done. She asked questions and told him about her fears, asking for guidance and comfort. He held her close and soothed her worries, forgiving her for the things she asked forgiveness for. He never let go unless she pulled away. She closed her eyes, and the world came back around her. She was outside, sitting up on the roof, no one physically beside her. A chill ran over her with the next waft of the breeze, and she turned back toward the fence, carefully making her way back down. She paused on the fence, perched, and looked up at the stars and moon once more. With a deep breath, she climbed down the fence and walked back inside the house.
